Mandli Collects Data for The Boldt Company
10/1/11

This summer, Mandli Communications worked on a project of a different scale with Boldt, a nationwide construction company. Boldt was responsible for assembling new boilers for installation in a downtown Madison power plant. However, transportation of the boilers was difficult due to their massive size. Working with Perkins Transportation, Boldt was able to transport two boilers in two nights, each weighing in at 534,000 lbs.

Due to the amount of weight being transported on city roads, the City of Madison was concerned with the potential road damage these huge transports could cause. Boldt contracted Mandli to collect roadway surface data both before and after the boilers were transported to see if there was any difference in the condition of the pavement. The results of the data collection allowed Boldt to measure and quantify any damage that occurred, protecting both Boldt and the City from paying for unnecessary repairs. Fortunately, after the data was collected and processed there was found to be no damage to the pavement.
