Mandli’s LIDAR Data Collection System makes use of lasers and sensors to gather range and intensity information. The unit is encased in a rotating enclosure, and as it spins the two banks of lasers and sensors collect over one million points of data per second. The points are then used to create a three-dimensional, high-definition model of the surrounding environment. The entire unit is mounted onto the exterior of a collection vehicle, and can safely collect data at highway speeds within the flow of traffic, decreasing the risk to the traveling public and increasing the efficiency of the collection process. Due to the sensor’s fast spin rate and high point registration, Mandli is able to produce a realistic representation of the scanned environment that can be used to take accurate and reliable measurements.
