The Mandli LiDAR Data Collection System utilizes LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) technology to gather range and intensity information. Each sensor in the system is encased in a rotating enclosure, and as they spin the sensors can collect up to 1.6 million points of data per second. The points are then used to create a three-dimensional, high-definition model of the surrounding environment. The units are mounted onto the exterior of the collection vehicle which can safety collect data at highway speeds within the flow of traffic, decreasing the risk to the traveling public and increasing the efficiency of the collection process. Due to the fast spin rate and high point registration of the sensors a realistic representation of the scanned environment is produced that can be used to take accurate and reliable measurements.
