Railroad and street intersections can be some of the most dangerous areas on the road. The SRH System provides a realistic representation of these intersections, including everything seen by train operators, motorists and pedestrians. Full and partial obstructions of the tracks and streets, as well as location of signage and pedestrian walkways are all clearly visible. An interactive archive of railroad conditions including field of view and signage is useful for making safety improvements, sorting out legal issues, and as a visual verification of existing data reports. Our lidar data provides a complete view of each crossing, making it more useful than a standard image collection.
The video below shows the data set taken at a railway and street intersection. The data allows the user to see multiple angles of the street and railway, providing an accurate environment in which to evaluate safety concerns and identify assets. The video shows how photolog images can be synched with the SRH data to provide a comprehensive view of the environment.
