Automated Distress
Mandli is introducing its newest pavement rating software,
Roadview Automated Distress Rating Software. This software
is capable of automatically rating pavement images according
to each agency's rating system. Mandli collects pavement images
using the INO Laser Road Imaging System, the latest in line scan
camera technology.
Line scan technology allows for a seamless collection of pavement
imaging. The speed of the line scan camera will assure complete
coverage of the lane of travel (just over 13 feet). The images
will then be segmented to correspond with the right-of-way image
interval. The resolution of the pavement images will be 4096 pixels
across the pavement. This resolution will be capable of identifying
1 mm (0.04 inch) cracks in generally good conditions. Below is an example of our high resolution pavement images and a distress overlay. Click on a image to view a full resolution pavement image.
Manual Evaluation
Manual distress evaluation is performed using right-of-way images
or downward images loaded into Roadview 6 software. The distress
module of Roadview 6 offers predefined fields for each type of
cracking. The person performing the manual evaluation steps
through each image and determines the class
of cracking for each one. That information is populated
into a database that can be summarized over user-selected
intervals.
The resolution of the Downward Imaging System
is sufficient to provide a distress analysis that is consistent with
the rating specified in the SHARPS manual or be customized to fit a
different rating system.
