Mandli’s Vehicle Measurement System (VMS) is a cost effective and safe method of collecting
highly accurate measurement on vehicle height. Vehicles are measured by a laser scanner
mounted on a stationary overhead structure. Collection can be done with the vehicle traveling at
low, controlled speeds. Real-time data is collected by the sensor and an embedded CPU located
in the sensor housing. The data is then transmitted from the VMS via a wireless ethernet controller
to a laptop with Mandli’s control software installed. Control and display of the system is
completely wireless.
Major System Components
Protective temperature-controlled housing for system:
The protective housing is rated for outdoor use and to operate in a full sun/rain/snow environment
with only provisions to keep snow and ice from accumulating in winter and direct sun from heating
the system enclosures in summer. The housing features a thermostat control to heat or cool the
system depending on the temperature detected inside the housing.
Scanning Laser (in protective housing)
The range of the scanning laser is 54 ft. from the sensor surface. The lasers vertical accuracy is +/- 0.5" within range of the system with a minimum
scanning rate of 1050 scans per minute.
Embedded CPU (in protective housing)
The embedded CPU will control the laser sensor during operation and communicate with the host
application. The main functions include the collection and calibration of the data.
Wireless Ethernet Controller (in protective housing)
Provides a high speed Wireless Ethernet interface for the system. It features support for WPA (Wi-
Fi Protected Access) to allow only desired users to interface with the system.
Control/ Display Software
Customer will be supplied with an unlimited site license of Mandli’s VMS control software. The
software will allow the user to activate and deactivate sensor, start and stop collection and display
vertical measurements.
LED Display (optional)The LED will display the current live measurement and the overall highest point measured of the
vehicle being measured. The system features wireless communication between the VMS and the
LED display.
